Microsoft recently announced the release of Window Server Foundation, a stripped-down, low-cost server platform as a business solution for very small businesses. Built on Server 2008, it’s designed to compliment the range of small business products already on offer, such as Essential Business Server and Small Business Server, but the aim of Server Foundation is to enable OEMs to offer a sub-$1000 server solution (US pricing) which is pretty good bang for buck.
To find out more about Server Foundation and the implications for businesses I recently interviewed Iain MacDonald, a director in the Windows Server Group, and Martin Gregory, director of Server and Tools for Microsoft Australia.
The transcript is up on Windows IT Pro, which you can read here.
